Frequently Asked Questions:

When and where is Arkansas Boys State?

Arkansas Boys State is May 26 – 31, 2024, at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) in Conway.

Who should I send to Arkansas Boys State?

High schools should nominate their best and brightest male students entering their senior year: mature leaders in the classroom, on the field, and throughout the community who are ready to shape the future of our state.

There is no quota on how many students your school can send; however, a good place to start is 10% of your male junior class. We ask that you send as many eligible students as best represent your school and for whom you can secure funding.

How much does it cost?

Tuition for the program is $250 per delegate — an incredible value that equips delegates with the iconic Arkansas Boys State merchandise, program resources, and a top-tier transformative leadership experience. This also includes six days and five nights of lodging and meals at the University of Arkansas.

If your school does not have all of the funds to send your students to Arkansas Boys State, you have a number of options:

  • Contact your local American Legion Post. As our partner organization, many Posts sponsor their local students to attend.
  • Reach out to your local businesses. In most cases, we’ve found that the community will support their delegates. Even if they cannot, they might be able to help you find another local sponsor or business.
  • Individual donors can sponsor delegates to Arkansas Boys State, too.
  • If you still cannot find any other supporting funds, we encourage you to call our American Legion Headquarters at (501) 375-1104. Ultimately, we don’t want a selected delegate to not attend Arkansas Boys State because of the registration fee alone.
How does payment work?

We do not want students to take on the expense of attendance. Usually, the sponsoring school or local American Legion Post pays for students to attend Arkansas Boys State.

Once you have determined how registration will be paid, use the Payment Link to complete payment via credit card or check.

If a local American Legion Post, a local business, an individual, or another organization is paying, they can also use the Payment Link to pay for specific delegates.

What's next after I register my school and students?

Once you nominate your students, the students will receive an email prompting them to complete registration. You’ll also receive a confirmation email with information on how to begin the payment process. Please follow the instructions in that email for how to begin the payment process.

Are private school or homeschool students eligible for attendance?

Yes! Any male high school student currently in their junior year is eligible to attend. Most private schools are listed in our school list in registration. If your school is not — of if you are registered a homeschool student — please select “OTHER” from the school list and manually input your school name or homeschool association.
